Chinese Medicine / Acupuncturist
Chinese Medicine is a complete system of healthcare that has evolved over thousands of years, responding to the ever changing illnesses that have afflicted humans over time.
At its very heart, Chinese Medicine seeks to achieve balance in the body, mind and spirit. When our bodies are in harmony, we operate at an optimal level, therefore illness is simply an imbalance within the body.
Chinese Medicine treatment may include Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Cupping, Dietary Therapy, Exercise and Lifestyle Management.
According to Chinese Medicine, energy (Qi) flows through pathways in the body called meridians.
In a healthy individual, Qi flows freely and is unobstructed. When the Qi in the meridian becomes stagnated or blocked, it causes an imbalance in the body which results in illness or injury.
There are over 500 acupuncture points in the body and stimulating these points using needles can improve the flow of Qi. General acute complaints can be relieved quickly, chronic conditions improve gradually.
Acupuncture can aid in the treatment of:
- musculoskeletal pain
- headaches and migraines
- digestive complaints
- urinary problems
- gynaecological issues
