Dr. Anna Millsteed – Osteopath
Dr Anna Millsteed graduated from RMIT University in 1998. She has completed numerous courses since then including further training in obstetric osteopathy, cranial osteopathy and infant massage.
Over the past ten years I've worked both in Australia and overseas, including PNG in 2008, where I volunteered at Port Moresby General Hospital, and at Cheshire Homes, a residential facility for adults and children with disabilities.
I enjoy helping people with a wide range of aches and pains, but am particularly interested in obstetrics and paediatrics. Osteopathic care can be useful as part of your preconception planning, whilst receiving fertility treatment, and throughout your pregnancy. A treatment plan through the third trimester can assist with having a comfortable late pregnancy, and also help prepare the body if you are planning on a natural labour. Pubic symphysis pain, headaches, back pain and heartburn are common reasons why women seek osteopathic care through their pregnancy. Women having difficulties with low milk flow can greatly benefit from osteopathic care too.
Osteopathy for babies and children is becoming increasingly popular, as parents begin to realise the great benefits it offers. If your child suffers from irritability, excessive crying, recurrent ear or chest infections, is constipated or has reflux, there may be some underlying areas of tightness or restriction that osteopathy can assist with. As a qualified infant massage instructor I can also teach you techniques to help your baby at home.
Cranial osteopathy and other gentle osteopathic techniques also lend themselves to the treatment of recurrent infections in adults, such as sinusitis and throat infections. Chronic injuries such as old fractures that still ache, or long-term whiplash injuries can also benefit greatly from this type of treatment. If you’d like to discuss your individual case with me before making an appointment please feel free to contact the clinic and leave your details.
